Team StopTech Mid Summer SCCA Racing Report

It's the middle of the summer which means it is the middle of the race season.  July had yet another podium visit for Team StopTech as James Sofronas roared into second place at Round 7 of the 2010 SCCA World Challenge Series in Toronto.

Sofronas powered his No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 running on StopTech brakes from his fourth starting spot past Patrick Lindsey in the No. 57 Horton/Sloan Securities Porsche 911 GT3 before the field reached Turn 1.

By the end of the first lap, he had also slipped past Andy Pilgrim in the No. 8 K-Pax Racing Volvo S60 for second place and had his sights set on reeling in Pobst. Sofronas’ two-position improvement on the first lap earned him the Optima Batteries’ Best Standing Start award.

Sofronas hounded Pobst until the checkered flag. Though the gap fluctuated as the two weaved through traffic, Pobst held off Sofronas for a 0.821-second margin of victory.

Meanwhile StopTech CEO and GMG Racing teammate Dino Crescentini sits third in the Driver's Championship standing.  His victory in St. Petersburg and dramatic fight to the podium in Long Beach have already made this an amazing season and has him just above Sofronas who holds in fourth place.

The fun moves to the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course for Round 8 taking place August 6-9.

Who Wants Cake? Centric Parts Chows Down for 10th Anniversary

Centric Parts turned 10 years old in June.  According to some chart guys had no part in making, the appropriate gifts are tin, aluminum, or diamond.  Most of us on this blog prefer forged calipers.

The folks at Centric Parts actually celebrated with flour, sugar and eggs in the form of a pair of yummy looking cakes at two of the company's Southern California facilities...

What did you expect?  Diamonds?

HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY CENTRIC PARTS!
