Photos from the Desert: The StopTech Brake Test at Willow Springs

The StopTech crew rolled out to The Streets of Willow Springs, part of the Willow Springs race park in the California desert, for some brakes testing. The test vehicles were the StopTech Porsche 911 GT3 that served as a World Challenge car for a few seasons before the 2010 model rolled along, and a Chevy Corvette Z06.

The day started with about 15 minutes of a light drizzle before flourishing into an absolutely beautiful day to have a world class racetrack all to yourself.

Keep an eye out for a video recap of the day, including some in-car footage, but here are some photos, You can also catch more photos at our sister blog, The StopTech Blog.

There is something great about being handed the keys to world class race track on a beautiful day

Once the early morning rain cleared out
it was time to get to work

the rain left a parting rainbow to kick the day off,
but it needs something more...

 There we go.  Much better.

The Chevy Corvette Z06 arrived a little later.
If the car broke, the option existed to pedal around the track

That's a lot of muscle!

A super tight fit for the driver.
Not much Sunday driving is gonna happen in here.

First step is get some real brakes on that car!

Centric Parts Director of Engineering Steve Ruiz (left), and Centric Parts CEO Dino Crescentini
(next to Steve) catch up with from visitors

Meanwhile the vette got to go through its paces

Then Dino hit the track!

Dino knows this car pretty well, considering he drove it
in in the SCCA World Challenge series (GT Class)

It was a top notch day from start to finish!

StopTech around the Web

StopTech, the ultra-performance division of Centric Parts, gets a fair amount of chatter on car forums around the web. Here's some threads on our radar this month...

You can keep track of a custom job StopTech did for a screaming 1999 Chevy Camaro SS over on the LS1 Tech Forum for Firebird and Camaro lovers.

There is a surprisingly eye-catching Honda Accord with blue calipers piling up the positive comments on V6Performance.net.

StopTech's Facebook friends may already be familiar with the snazzy Honda S2000 project car over at MotoIQ.

Do you have a thread going about your StopTech equipped car?  Send us a link at forums@theBrakeRoom.com and we may feature it here.

StopTech Make a Splash with Lexus on the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

Once each year, on the third Sunday in August, 175 of the most prized collector cars and motorcycles in the world roll onto what is often called the best finishing hole in golf — the famed eighteenth fairway at Pebble Beach. Tire meets turf and transformation occurs: the stage is set for one of the most competitive events in the automotive world. The occasion is the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The Concours is not a contest of speed, but of excellence. Automobiles and motorcycles are judged for their historical accuracy, their technical merit and their style. And the best garner reward and recognition.

Thousands of enthusiasts are on hand to celebrate these vehicles and enjoy the company of others who share their passion. The 2010 event marked the 60th anniversary of the first Concours, which was held in 1950.. From less than 30 cars on display in 1950, the event's grown to an estimated 255 cars and motorcycles this year.
One such car at the Lexus pavilion was this beauty sporting F Sport brakes engineered and manufactured for Lexus by StopTech.

Compass 360 Racing Honda at Auto Show with Power Slot

Compass360 Racing’s #74 car was recently featured in the Honda booth at the 2010 Canadian International Auto Show this season. This event is the third-largest auto show in North America.

We were thrilled to see this car, which runs with Power Slot rotors, nicely presented between an IZOD IRL car and a newly-released Crosstour (not to mention the models).

You don't have to go all the way to Canada to catch this stunner in action.  It races in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST Series and even won the season opener in Daytona.
